The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 550 “White/Navy-Red” is a collaboration between Teddy Santis’ New York streetwear company and New Balance that will release in April 2021. The 550 was introduced in 1989 as part of New Balance’s basketball collection, however it was never worn solely by one player or associated with any memorable NBA moments. The shoe would be phased out and virtually forgotten until Aimé Leon Dore collaborated with New Balance to bring it back in 2020. The classic style features a white leather base that is smooth and dotted. The “550” symbol on the forefoot and “N” marking on the mid-panel have metallic red accents, bringing old school styling features to the sneaker. The backs of the left and right shoes feature Aime Leon Dore and “NB” detailing, respectively. The pre-yellowed midsole pays homage to the New Balance 550’s retro look. The film will be released on April 23, 2021.
